Don’t cry, dear Lenny!
Though he’s gone for good,
Your life’s not over,
As you think it should!
The battle was fought,
And you were so brave.
So stop raging wars
On yourself today!
And pick up the pieces
That love left behind;
Lest tears fall
On your pillow again tonight!
I knew your pains,
I heaved your sighs.
I once was bitter,
And I was blind.
We both had watched the bridges burn
For those who leave, and never return.
Love was falling, romances drown,
As lovers laugh on like the clowns.
But the sun is shining, dear Lenny
Gently over your miseries.
So please look up, and take my hand
You’ll find in me..a staying-man.
