Young and fabulous

I have been finding numerous ways to procrastinate these days. The latest one has been to go through my old pictures and reminiscing the memories (but how come most pictures were of me drinking???). http://www.flickr.com/photos/lesuongmai/sets/72157616365359532/

I can’t believe how time flies. It has been almost 8 years since I first went abroad. Am I getting old? I always thought I was 18 years old. Every time someone asks me how old I am, I actually have to subtract the year in order to get my real age… Am I living in denial? He he…

Going through the pictures, so many beautiful memories came flooding back to me. Good friends I made, wonderful experiences I had, exotic places I have been to. There are things I have almost forgotten about. Looking back I realized that I have achieved a lot, I have gone to great lengths and have grown and learn more than I expected. I have laughed and cried. I have been to 20 countries, traveled across the US, gone sky diving, worked in Sri Lanka, volunteered in New Orleans, took out trash at a fast food restaurant, delivered papers, done science research, worked at an investment bank, learnt to ice skate etc. Not bad at all.

If only I could turn back time and relive those moments. But we’re still young and fabulous. The future lies ahead of us. There’s still a lot we can do. Getting older is not bad at all; let me tell you the advantages:

- You learn to be comfortable with your body. Mind you, in high school I was super skinny and in college I was chubby. Now I think I’m sexy!
- You have a MUCH better sense of fashion. I dressed pretty hideous in the past, didn’t I?
- You learn to love yourself and be happy with what you have. You learn to enjoy time alone.
- You learn to love in a different way. You understand that there is not only one true love. You can love different people at the same time, but it’s just different kinds of love. Once you love someone, you will never stop loving him/her, but it will turn into memories as time goes by. You learn to let go.
- You learn to accept people for who they are.
- You learn to enjoy the surprises and unpredictability of life and not have to constantly try to control your destiny.
- You learn that having fun isn’t a bad thing.

Life is beautiful. And, YES we can do it!
