Life of a wedding planner

Ring, ring…

“Hello, this is WedinStyle. How may I help you?”

“Hi, could I speak to Miss Suong Mai please?”

“Hold on please.”

“Good morning, Mai speaking.”

“Hi, my name is… I met you some time ago at the… conference and you gave me your business card. I hope you still remember me. I was wondering if I could talk with you to discuss about your wedding planning services. I think it would be more convenient to meet in person than over the phone. It is not very urgent but in the next few days would be great!”

“Sure, could you come to our office on Friday at, let’s say, 10:30?”

----------

On Friday morning, Christmas eve, while everyone was excited and getting ready for their holidays and celebrations, I met with our “potential client”. A guy dressed formally in a suit showed up. I remember talking to him at some event a long time ago but our conversation was cut short. I never expected to see him again or hear from him.

I gave him our usual presentation of our company and services and had small talk to get to know him. He kept looking at me, asked many questions and took notes.

“How much should I budget for a wedding?”
“How long should I prepare in advance”
“What is the timeline for preparation”
“How much should an engagement ring cost?”

And when I asked him about his bride, he confessed “I don’t have a fiancée yet, not even a girlfriend. But next year 2011 is a good year to get married so I want to get ready so that when I decide on a bride, I have everything in place for a wedding”

----------

That evening, I received a text message from the “potential client”

“Merry Christmas to you. You have looked more like a Japanese girl since the last time I met you. Hope to get to see you again soon…”
