Count your blessings

These past few nights I have been sleeping over at my friend Serene's room. Our late night conversations have made me feel a lot better. Somehow today we talked about God and life. Lately (I mean these past few years) I have been talking about God with a lot of friends. I keep questioning and asking them about their faith.
Although there is no way to summarize one's findings and relationship with God, and there is no way to relay a conversation about God, here are some things that I have learnt and come to have faith in God:

- God loves you. He always has a better "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." for you that you sometimes cannot see or understand just yet.

- When in despair, surrender yourself to God. Trust him to make the right decisions for you. You have done everything you can, God will take care of the rest.

- Pray. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Sometimes God will give you even better things than what you asked for, just that you don't realize it yet.

- Be patient. God works in his own time.

"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven:

A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.

A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.

A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing.

A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away.

A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.

A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace."

- Count your blessings. You will realize that life is beautiful. Don't torture yourself. God created you for you to be happy!

When in doubt, I always asked my friend for reassurance "Are you sure he is listening? Does he know what I am going through?" "Yes, trust me. He is working on it. You will see the miracle of his work."
